Act On It: Praising God
Grumble Bucket
Take two small buckets or containers. Label one “Grumbles” and the other “Praises.” When someone in the family grumbles about a problem, they have to put a small amount of money in the Grumble Bucket. (This can be a Quarter, Dime, etc. pick an amount that will work for your family.) When someone has a problem and praises God instead grumbling, they get to take a piece of candy out of the Praise Bucket. At the end of the week us the money in the Grumble Bucket to replenish candy. If there is not enough money to buy more candy, celebrate a grumble-free week by taking the family out for ice cream.
Sing Along
Have each member of the family choose a favorite praise song and burn them onto a CD. Play the CD and sing along when you ride in the car together. Remind your children that they can think about their favorite praise song all through the day to help keep an attitude of praise to God no matter what is happening.
